Afya Uzazi has initiated an award scheme to recognize and motivate the best performing health facilities jointly with Nakuru and Baringo counties. In this scheme, a rotating trophy is dedicated to each of the project six sub-counties. Health facilities in each sub-county compete for the trophy, which will be held by the facility declared with winner each quarter.

The best overall facility during the year will be recognized at the county level during the respective annual county award ceremonies.

In each county, a panel of judges has been constituted. The judges review the performance of each facility based on key indicators measuring progress towards attaining targets in key indicators that include antenatal visits, hospital deliveries and immunization coverage. The judges then visit shortlisted facilities to assess the quality of care and identify innovative practices that contribute to the overall score.

Besides the trophy, staff members of the winning facilities receive individual certificates of merit during formal ceremonies attended by county health managers, local leaders and community representatives.

The winners in the various sub-counties are as follows:

  1. Baringo North – Kipsaraman Dispensary
  2. Marigat - Marigat Catholic Mission
  3. Mogotio – Mogotio Sub County Hospital
  4. Baringo Central – Tenges Health Centre
