Afya Uzazi aims to improve access to quality and equitable sexual and reproductive health services for adolescents and youth aged 10 to 24 years.

The project’s adolescent and youth sexual and reproductive health (AYSRH) interventions comprise of a variety of approaches geared towards health promotion and prevention and access to quality adolescent sexual reproductive health information and services.

  • To ensure health facilities meet quality standards for AYSRH services, the project has invested in training and mentorship of health care workers and supports delivery of adolescent- youth-friendly services through dedicated clinic days and youth-led outreaches.
  • Afya Uzazi implements community-based, youth-focused interventions that cultivate an enabling environment for uptake of AYSRH and generate demand for SRH services.

The project has trained Youth Champions [link] to offer comprehensive sexuality education sessions that equip young people with essential life skills and Binti Shujaa [link] (Young Heroines) volunteers who promote maternal and child health among teenage mothers.

Through community dialogue, the project addresses gender norms and fosters support among communities on AYSRH issues.

Afya Uzazi works closely with the national and county governments to strengthen coordination and promote sustainability of adolescent and youth interventions.
